Our partnership approach
Affinity Water and Severn Trent, two of the UK’s water companies, are working together on a joint water transfer project with the Canal & River Trust charity who own and manage the canal network in England and Wales.
This partnership is crucial to securing a sustainable and reliable water supply for the future, which is currently under increasing pressure from population growth, climate change and the need to protect our fragile environment.

Our partner organisations
Affinity Water is the UK’s largest water-only supply company. It provides, on average, 950 million litres of water each day to more than 3.8 million people in parts of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, the London Boroughs of Harrow and Hillingdon and parts of the London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing and Enfield. It also supplies water to the Tendring peninsula in Essex and the Folkestone and Dover areas of Kent.
Severn Trent is one of the largest regulated water and sewerage companies in the UK, providing water and waste services to more than 4.5 million homes and businesses in the Midlands, from the outskirts of Bristol to the southern suburbs of Sheffield.
Canal & River Trust (the Trust) is the UK’s largest canal charity, caring for a 2,000-mile network of stunning canals and navigable rivers and attracting 800 million unique visits to the network and supporting 85,000+ waterway dependent jobs. Its canal network is used by more boats now than at the peak of the Industrial Revolution and connects many of the UK’s urban and rural areas, providing essential spaces for wildlife and people, helping us all feel happier and healthier
