Read about our environmental work in our April Community Update

We’ve published the Spring issue of our Community Update, with a focus on our environmental surveys and assessments and the steps we’re taking to ensure we’re doing all we can to avoid, reduce and mitigate the impacts of our proposals on the environment.

We’re currently gathering extensive environmental information to identify and assess the likely significant effects of the scheme. This forms part of our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The EIA is an important part of our work to develop our proposals, and is being carried out alongside our design work, ongoing engagement and the consultation feedback we receive. Its findings will help shape our proposals positively, by identifying any potential significant effects at an early stage and enable us to explore opportunities to avoid, reduce and mitigate them.

We’ve recently produced a Scoping Report as part of our first stage of the EIA process and submitted it to the Planning Inspectorate where it’s available to view.
Scoping is a key part of the EIA process and sets out our proposal and methodology based on field and desk
studies of the existing environment. You can find out more about the process here.
